Mo Faya the Musical

Copyrighted Work

Initially inspired by the legend of Lwanda Magere, a mythical warrior in Luo folklore who could not be killed in battle, Mo Faya went through several incarnations [as Lwanda: Man of Stone (2003) and Lwanda: A Ghetto Story (2006)], prior to its selection for performance at the New York Musical Theatre Festival in 2009.

The show had a successful run in New York, with hundreds of Kenyans in the US and Canada traveling long distances to catch the show and celebrate this home-grown treat.

The show also performed for 8-weeks at the GoDown Arts Centre in Nairobi, playing to standing-room-only audiences in its last two weeks.
